Grant for counselling service

Forest Holme was delighted to be awarded a £10,000 from the Talbot Village Trust to help provide counselling services to people experiencing grief during the pandemic.

Since mid-March, the hospice has provided counselling services online to over 120 clients, with 60 per cent of these being new referrals.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on families who are experiencing loss, especially as social distancing rules meant people were often not able to have a proper funeral or be close to their relatives during end of life stages. However, during lockdown the team was able to provide virtual sessions for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings surrounding the loss of a loved one.
