The team at Forest Holme is led by three palliative medicine consultants –Dr Saskie Dorman, Dr Amy Pharaoh and Dr Beverley Lee – and associate specialist Dr Rebekah Wilson who work in the hospice, hospital and community. Our inpatient ward is lead by Matron for Oncology and Palliative Care, Andrea Moxham and Sister, Deana Godwin.
There is a weekly meeting of all the professionals who are involved in the provision of specialist palliative care. This is called the MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting. All patients who are under our care are discussed at this meeting from time to time, to ensure that they are getting the best management. Decisions made at the meeting are discussed with the patient by their palliative care nurse specialist.
The team at Forest Holme includes:

- Occupational therapist
- Therapies technician
- Lymphoedema specialist nurses
- Complementary therapists.
Community palliative care team
There are seven community specialist palliative care nurses who are based at Forest Holme Hospice. They are linked to all of the GP surgeries in Poole, Wimborne, Cranborne, Sixpenny Handley and the Isle of Purbeck and often attend meetings with the primary health care team.
The specialist palliative care nurses are available from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Hospital palliative care team
There are two hospital specialist palliative care nurses and a facilitator in end-of-life care who are based at Forest Holme. They visit people within Poole and Alderney Hospitals.
The team is available from Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.
The lymphoedema team provides advice and management of secondary lymphoedema, which is caused by cancer or its treatment.
The team is based upstairs at Forest Holme and is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Referrals are usually via the GP, consultant, community or hospital nurse.
The counselling team is based upstairs at Forest Holme.
The complementary therapy team is based upstairs at Forest Holme.
