Visiting Forest Holme

Visitors are welcome at any time, although many people enjoy a sleep after lunch and we suggest that early afternoon from 1pm to 3pm is kept as a quiet time. Children of any age are welcome and pets – which have previously included a horse – may also visit.
We have a large lounge, relatives’ kitchen, relatives’ overnight room and small courtyard garden which you are very welcome to use.

Forest Holme has its own small car park but parking is limited, although there is also some free parking on nearby streets for up to two hours. We would ask you to encourage friends to park in one of the nearby pay-and-display car parks at the Dolphin Shopping Centre or Dolphin Swimming Pool, so that close family members can park on site.

The hospice is well served by public transport. The rail station and the bus station are within walking distance for the reasonably fit: allow about five minutes to walk up Seldown Lane if you are coming by bus and an extra ten minutes if you are travelling by train.

The front door of Forest Holme is usually kept locked for security reasons so when you arrive please ring the doorbell and someone will let you in.

It is now national policy that there is no smoking on NHS premises and Forest Holme is fitted with smoke alarms. We, therefore, request that you do not smoke within Forest Holme or its grounds.
