Local filmmaker captures a lifetime of memories

Forest Holme Hospice Charity volunteer and supporter Tiff Watson has shared her personal journey through a professionally created life story video celebrating family, resilience, volunteering and the lasting impact of compassionate hospice care.

Tiff worked with Christchurch-based filmmaker Emma Trim, founder of Chapters, to create the video, which reflects on her experience of living with disability, the support of her husband Dave and her connection to Forest Holme following the deaths of both her parents at the hospice.

Tiff has volunteered for Forest Holme for almost seven years after witnessing the care given to her mum and dad during their final days.

Speaking about her connection to the hospice, she said, “When my parents were both in Forest Holme, I witnessed care I had never seen before. It was kind, compassionate and they always knew what was needed.”

She added, “I could never repay the care that was given, so I thought how could I give back and honour them both. My favourite day is Friday when I volunteer and I walk in with a smile.”

The video, which Forest Holme Hospice Charity has shared on its YouTube channel, also explores Tiff’s positivity and determination while living with disability, alongside the love and support she shares with Dave. Describing herself as “super positive”, she says this has always been her “secret power”.

Reflecting on the experience of creating the film, Tiff said, “Making my Chapters video with Emma was such a joyful experience and the finished video is such a precious gift. My loved ones can see me, hear my voice and reconnect with memories we shared together. What a beautiful thing to leave behind, a lasting record of your life, your story and the moments that matter most.”

Emma Trim, founder of Chapters, previously worked with the BBC and LADbible creating human interest stories focused on resilience, adversity and the moments that shape people’s lives.

She said, “I’m building Chapters with a clear purpose: to give people the opportunity to tell their own story in their own words and in their own time.”
