Poole pub hit £50k fundraising milestone
Friday 5th May 2023
The Charity had the privilege of presenting The Lord Nelson landlady Anna and her fabulous staff with a special plaque to celebrate hitting the remarkable £50K fundraising milestone for Forest Holme Hospice Charity.
Anna and her team have been supporting the hospice for a number of years through various events and activities in memory of Donna Turner and more recently Chris Tucker.
She began fundraising in 2015 after a much-loved friend and customer, Donna Turner, died there. Back in 2014, Anna held an Anniversary of Rock event at the pub, with PV, Donna’s favourite band, as the headliners.
“She went into Forest Holme and passed away there. The people at Forest Holme were just so amazing, it’s not a job I could do but I can fundraise,” Anna said.
“So that’s where it started from and really where it’s continued.”
Anna has since claimed that once they reach £60k she plans to retire after nearly 20 years running the pub.
Anna said it felt “amazing” to hit the “brilliant” milestone, adding “When we started doing this, I didn’t imagine we’d ever get that amount of money from a small pub that holds 200 people.”
