A wife has paid tribute her late husband’s friends and colleagues at 4Com who took on the unique challenge of a 24-Hour Moveathon and raised £7,768.88 for Forest Holme in memory of 44-year-old Ben Standish, who died at the hospice earlier this year.

The event saw employees of the Bournemouth-based company, which delivers business phone solutions, staying active around the clock during the 24-hour period, with a dedicated overnight team ensuring someone was always exercising.

Ben’s wife, Leanne, said: “Ben’s passion for life was infectious; he was inspirational with a huge smile and an even bigger heart. During his long cancer journey, he faced it with the same positivity and strength that defined every part of his life.”

Participants rotated through a wide variety of activities, including, boxing, swimming, running, table tennis, football, beach walks, cycling, circuit training, and stints on static exercise machines.

Forest Holme cared for Ben during his illness, and Leanne paid tribute to the team, saying, “They not only offered Ben dignity, comfort and peace, but their compassion extended to me and all of Ben’s loved ones. Even during the darkest days, they were ready with a smile or banter about football results, and I will always be eternally grateful for the support we received.”

Reflecting on the Moveathon, Leanne added: “Ben’s 4Com family have been incredibly supportive throughout his journey. I want to thank everyone who organised and took part – charity events were so close to Ben’s heart, and he would be extremely proud. It’s incredibly moving to see his memory honoured in such a meaningful way. Thank you also to everyone who donated – this will make a difference to so many local people.”
