New Mayor chooses hospice as charity of the year

Monday 22nd Jun 2026

The new Mayor of Poole, Councillor Tracey Newman, has selected Forest Holme as her Charity of the Year for 2026/27, and will be supporting the hospice throughout her tenure by helping to raise both funds and awareness of its services and the difference it makes to local people facing life-limiting illness and bereavement.

The Mayor recently visited the hospice alongside the Deputy Mayor of Poole, and the Sheriff of Poole, where she was given a tour and met with staff to see first hand the vital care and support it provides to patients and families across Poole, Wimborne and Isle of Purbeck.

Hannah O’ Hare, CEO at Forest Holme Hospice Charity, said, “It was a real pleasure to welcome them all to the hospice and their warmth, genuine interest, and engagement made for a wonderful visit.

We are grateful for the time they spent with us and look forward to building a strong relationship and working closely together throughout the coming year to raise awareness of hospice care and the difference it makes to so many local people.”
