Sustainability
The Forest Holme Green Group
At Forest Holme, we believe caring for people also means caring for our planet.
Our Green Group brings together staff from all teams who are passionate about making our hospice more environmentally sustainable — in both clinical and non-clinical ways. The group is open, friendly, and informal, and we aim to meet around once a month for a short check-in, with no pressure to attend every time.
We’re proud to have achieved the Bronze Greener Palliative Care Award, and we’re now working towards Silver by building on what we’ve already started and stepping up our collective efforts.
Some of the changes we’ve already made include:
- Reducing unnecessary glove use through staff education
- Introducing automatic lighting to cut energy use
- Choosing charity running vests made from 100% recycled materials
- Reviewing everyday practices to reduce waste and environmental impact
Get involved
We know that meaningful change comes from lots of small, practical actions, and we welcome ideas from across the hospice. Whether you’d like to get actively involved, attend a meeting now and then, or simply share a suggestion, you’re very welcome.
Please email Saskie at saskie.dorman1@nhs.net to get in touch.
Together, we’re working towards a greener, more sustainable future for Forest Holme Hospice.
