What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative ways to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences.Art therapy draws on the process of art making within the safety of a therapeutic relationship with a registered art therapist.

Who is it for?

Many people who access art therapy do so because of an emotional need that may feel too difficult to talk about. In art therapy you are supported to express thoughts and feelings creatively alongside talking.

What support is available at Forest Holme?

For those receiving care from Forest Holme or who are family members of someone who is,you can access art therapy support in the form of one to one sessions. If you are recently bereaved, you can join an art therapy group which runs once a week for 6 weeks at a time.

Speak to your specialist nurse, the counselling and psychology service, or other palliative care clinician for a referral for art therapy support.
